Here is a picture of Lego's I created for my students to build their sight words. The lower and bigger blocks have one sight word like, here. The kids find the smaller blocks that spell here and build it on top. Once they finish all the blocks they set them all up along the wall and practice writing all the sight words. For an extra challenge I had students try to create a sentence with their Lego sight words.
To the left we see the word Sun and Log. The middle card has the middle sound and picture. The students name the picture and try to blend or sound out the sounds in that name. Once they finish writing they go back and blend to double check.
To the left we see four pictures and a sentence at the bottom. This is a four square writing method. I asked the students, "What do you love?" I modeled four ideas of things that I loved. They draw a idea and write the sounds they hear. Draw a picture then write the sounds they hear. Once they finish, they pick one of their ideas and write a sentence about it. In the first picture my student chose, "I see the rainbow." The other student picked, "I like my home." |
